Lisa asked:
Can you use the same kind of cookware that you use in a regular oven? I have several glass bakeware dishes that say not to use on stovetop or under broiler, can these be used in a toaster oven?

Anything that is same in a reg. oven is safe in a toaster oven.

I would advise against using any bakeware that isn’t metal in the toaster oven. Items used in the toaster oven are closer to the heat source than in a regular oven, and could possibly get broken. You can use aluminum foil or (if yours has it) the metal tray that came with the toaster.

Yes, you can always use glass cookware, the only thing you really have to avoid is plastic.

anything’s fine, just as long as it can fit in there

Anything is NOT fine in a toaster oven. The heating element is very close to the food and dish. Much more so than in a regular oven. Do not use glass bakeware too long in there and never put it in with cold food that has been stored in the glass in the refrigerator. You know, if you put away food in a glass baking dish and the whole thing is cold, put it in the oven before you turn on the temp so it all heats up slowly. Otherwise the glass dish will *****. Really the best thing to use is an aluminum pan but not the disposable type.

I’d stay away from glass cookware in the toaster oven.
The reason you can’t use glass under the broiler is because it is too close to the heat source and risks cracking & breaking.
In a toaster oven the cookware is EVEN CLOSER to the heat, and therefore carruies the same, if not higher risk of breaking than under the broiler.
Stick with metal if you can, just to be safe.

You can use your glassware in your toaster oven as long as you don’t set it to “Broil” or “Toast”. Only use it on the “Bake” or “Roast” setting.

you bet – anything you can use in an oven, you can use in a toaster oven with the same rule – don’t broil in the taoster oven for the cookware that says that

i usually zap the meal in the microwave and when its cooked I make a foil tray with aluminium foil and just brown it in the toaster oven, great for individual meals, and you are still following the cooking rules. Just be wary with food that spits fat.
